Whey Protein is for More than Just Muscle
-
So here I am writing to you about what I just ate for breakfast. It was extremely fast and easy. It was loaded with health benefits. Curious?I grabbed a Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt out of my fridge and tossed in 6-7 whole blueberries and two spoons of whey protein powder. This particular yogurt has no High Fructose Corn Syrup while most brands are loaded with it. The blueberries are a super-food and are loaded with antioxidants.
Whey Protein is readily available and relatively cheap. You can buy it almost anywhere on the Internet and in most nutrition stores. Considering the cost and the benefits, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn’t be using this powerful supplement.
The startling benefits of Whey Protein were discovered and documented in 2003 and published by the Journal of Natural BioChemistry.
When people talk about Whey Protein, the very first thing that comes to mind is a muscle head who is continually trying to be larger. It’s true that Whey is excellent for building larger muscles. Nearly all serious body builders are using it daily with great results. I am willing to wager that very few of them are aware of the other ways their body is using the protein.
The muscles in your body are made up of amino acids. It takes certain types and amounts of amino acids for your body to produce new muscle tissue. If you were to examine the amino acid content of Whey Protein you’d find that it is almost identical to human skeletal muscle. When Whey first arrives in your stomach your body almost immediately moves it into your digestive tract. This is because the Whey is almost pre-digested and is very, very easy for the stomach to process. Once in the intestine, your body sucks it up like a sponge and the amino acids are in your blood stream in minutes. The presence of these amino acids sends your body into a muscle building fury that lasts several hours. If you want to build muscle, this is the best way to do it. Take several servings through the day and keep your body in the muscle building process. You will actually feel the difference.
People know that calcium is an important part of every diet. If you ask most people why calcium is important they will tell you “strong bones.” While it is very true that calcium is vital for healthy bones there is a powerful and very little known process that occurs when your calcium levels dip low. When your body runs low on calcium it produces calcitrophic hormones. These hormones do just one thing - increase fat storage! Low calcium = higher body fat.
By consuming a high calcium diet you can prevent your body from releasing these calcitrophic hormones and therefore greatly decrease the amount of fat that gets stored. Consuming increased amounts of whey protein will cause you to lose weight.
The next thing I am going to tell you is cutting edge. Research is still being conducted to verify the benefits of whey for your immune system. You see, whey is loaded with IgA (immunoglobulins). IgA’s are absolutely essential for your body to resist infections. It is becoming increasingly clear that IgA from whey can be put to use inside your body to fight infections.
The fourth major reason to use whey is just as important as the others. Free radicals are dangerous and unstable molecules that are the root cause of aging and most diseases. Whey protein contains lactoferrin which is a strong antioxidant and neutralizes these free radicals before they can do any damage to your cells. Lactoferrin also makes it very difficult to develop bacterial infections.
As you can plainly see, whey protein is a powerful supplement to enhance your overall health. More muscle, less fat, stronger immunity and a good dose of antioxidants are the health benefits you will experience with this supplement that can be mixed in with almost any type of food.
